This stupid girl has jeopardised two trials but texting details about a defendant to another juror

Is 19 too young?

I absolutely think it is. There are some sensible 19yr olds out there but the thought of having some of the late-teenagers I see deciding someone's fate makes me shudder.

When I did Jury duty I remember one young girl, probably around the same age as this one, spent the whole time doodling on her notepad and obviously paying no attention whatsoever to the trial.

When it came to our deliberations, she had no clue what was going on and contributed nothing.

The rest of them weren't much better TBH.

The foreman was elected purely on the basis that he was the only one who turned up in a suit, so everyone reckoned he looked like the right person to do the job.

Very few of them understood the technicalities of the case and very little guidance was given to help them understand.

I felt a bit like Henry Fonda in 12 Angry Men at times, but in the end I think justice was done.

19 isn't too young. There are plenty of 19 year olds who could bring a perspective on a case that others would have missed or not grasped. They are important.

However, what is needed is a facility where retards like this are dealt with brutally.

I've been on a jury where we were deliberating a policeman's career after he defended himself against 2 Southall Specials with a kebab knife.

The jury broke down like this:

Young guy of Pakistani origin wasn't at all interested, slept through it all and just voted whichever way the majority did or changed his vote if someone questioned him.

One black man out the outset told everyone that police were racist scum and regardless of the evidence he would be sending him down.

One middle aged white female demanded an end to the police force as they were a paramilatary organisation.

One middle aged white man wanted everyone to group hug and forgive each other.

Three white women of varying ages had had previous run ins with similar people to those bringing the charge against the police officer and so were on his side.

The rest of us were able to rationally review the evidence and CCTV footage etc and draw a logical conclusion without falling back on our own prejudice and experiences.

The simple fact is that I was amazed that only half the jurers were retarded, bigoted, un-educated fkwits. It restored my faith in the UK although I still harbour a deep belief that more than 50% of this country are dangerously low IQ.
