Why are email addresses.......

...often no longer sent when someone enquires after a car for sale?

I keep getting enquiries on my car for sale but cannot reply as it comes from "[e-mail]".

This was never the case when I previously sold cars via PH. Why have you made this poorly thought out change?



P.S. I sent an email to advert admin about this topic a few days ago and no reply, hence this post here.

What email program are you using? the emails from the classifieds are sent with two addresses on them, the "from" address which is the address of the person enquiring about the car and a "Return-Path" address, which is [e-mail]

The return path address is used when the email can't be delivered for any reason, so that it comes back to us and we can track it. It shouldn't be visible in your email program and shouldn't be used when you click "reply" so if it is then your email program is doing something very odd.

Email program? Sorry no idea what that means but the acct is operated by "Hover". It is my business email acct and I have never experienced the problem with same acct/PH in the past.

We haven't changed anything at this end, is it possible for you to forward the emails to me complete with headers?

Got it!

It's definitely your email program being weird, all the data is there correctly but your email program/site is working in a very unusual way when it chooses which one to send the reply to.
