Help required to make 993 more interesting.....
Discussion
Ok, this is a strange but serious thought.
Had the 993 for about three weeks now and have to say...... I just don't love it.
I had the 964 (sort of RS look/spec, obviously not all the suspension but looked the part anyway) for a little over a year and loved it from start to finish (really didn't want to sell it, more a wild weekend idea.
So, what is wrong with the 993. It drives better, is quicker, handles better, feels newer and better built and looks 'posher' but just doesn't pull my plonk.
The car is in totally standard (although very nice) spec so is very understated. I your opinion are there enough bolt on bits that will make me love this car like the 964? Should I sell it and spend the extra to get a C4S? (which does look lots better in my opinion) or am I better off spending some pennies on wheels, suspension, body kit bits etc to make the C2 more sporty?
Hmmmm

Seriously, Scottster. Later Porsches seem to be a "slow burn" love affair. I now utterly love my Boxster S. At first, though, it seemed almost clinical in comparison to the full-on, tell-it-like-it-is, heart-on-its-sleeve character of our Chimaera. In the end its sheer class, glorious grip and sophistication can be stripped away to reveal its subtle but wonderful character. (Sorry about the gushing....)
Could it be that your 993, being a late model, may take a while to fully appreciate everything it has to offer?
Why not give it a few months and see...? Anyway..enjoy it in the mean time...

scotster reading evo this month Jon Barker and co called the 993 C4S a tarts handbag! Referring to the fact that the turbo body makes it look flash, but adds nothing to the driving experience, in fact he suggests that this car is les rewarding ot drive thatn a standard C4....
Personally though, I have no idea as I've not driven one.

I know what you mean. The 993's I drove were fantastic cars but didn't have the raw edge. I suspect Don is right though, these things will grow on you.
In terms of mods, I would go for carbon dash and associated stuff, RS buckets, RS steering wheel, rip out back seats, sports exhaust, Big red break upgrade, RS wheels, RS suspension. Breaks and suspension should make it a devastatingly quick car point-point.
Keep it for a year then slap on a super charger

Mister Ultra Violent, may I direct you to www.autofarm.co.uk, where for 23 thousand of the Queen's shiny pounds you can own your dream car...
T2 look 420bhp Turbo, 1100kgs, top of class in intermarque but fully road legal(!)
Or spend 40k on that lovely 993RS, which is the same kind of thing, but done for wealthy accountants like Scottster ;-)

Cheers for your views guys, think I'm probably most sold on the hookers and coke idea or 540bhp!
(Not sure which 'go' quicker mind you)
Been surfing for go faster bits, looks like spoilers are the order of the day, bugger it to resale value, there's always someone out there who'll fall in love with a more wild looking car. Not driving it round in boring guise simply for pleasure of the next suit that gets his name on the log book.
