I have been looking around for a decent Backpack for when on holiday or travelling.

I have been looking at a Lowepro Fastpak 250 or 350 just wondered if anyone uses one or have any other bags that can take a laptop, Camera Gear and other travel gear inside.

The bag will be used on holiday and also when travelling to work in London.

So for Work use it will need to have a laptop section. But when on holiday i will be using this to hold all the travel documents in a A4 size document wallet.

My budget for the bag is approx £50-£80

Thanks

Steve

Steve,

I use a FastPak 200 and a Naneu pro U220 (like a suitcase and above budget).

The FP200 doesn't have the laptop pocket but otherwise is very similar (a little smaller in all dimensions) and I use it all the time. It also goes abroad with me - never had a problem as carry on luggage. I can get my 350D, 50-500, 28-135, 28-300 and Sigma flashgun in the bottom compartment (but not all on holiday, tho).

There is a dedicated pocket for batteries and memory cards, too. The FP200 does not have a rain cover - don't know if the others have.

I think it's one of those 'Don't go anywhere without it' bags.

I'm considering the Lowepro Fastpack 250 as well.

I had a good look at one (or a similar model) in Jessops a while ago and it seemed well made. Couple on ebay at the moment within your budget

Recommendation here for the Fastpack 250...

I've used one for the last couple of years as my travelling hand luggage. The back laptop section can hold A4 folders in addition to a std laptop - great for business/travel docs. The main camera compartment is just OK for a largish DSLR body/70-200 + a couple of smaller lenses and other assorted photo stuff. There's enough room in the top compartment for other travel rubbish - Ipod/books/headphones etc.

The only care point for air travel is that it does become the world's heaviest rucksack when loaded as described - a couple of airlines recently have weighed hand baggsge on check-in and told me I'm over the limit. I've always managed to blag my way through...

I wouldn't recommend it for walking/trekking - not enough room for spare clothing in the top compartment, and no weatherproof cover.

Another Fastpack user here. Good practical bag. Excellent for day trips out - maps and stuff in the top, camera in the bottom. Nowhere to attach a tripod though.

What I do, I put mine under the flap on the front of the backpack. Works great smile

I have seen the Fastpak as low as £55.

I am not to worried about it being water proof cover it would be a nice to have to cover all scenarios but can live without it.

I will stick my order in and await for the delivery.

Just found em here for £50
