New Tusc or used F355?
Discussion
Ok ok...
Tuscan and 355 won't be thaaaat much difference in service/insurance/blah costs
Both will depreciate, but the 355 is very much mileage based.
Speed6 engine is fine now so not much in them reliability wise.
I'd personally go for the 355 as its a bit rarer, sounds better, but i think the Tuscan looks better and is faster.
Close call!

OK - I looked into this. Speedsix has had issues but is sorted now as already said. 355, cam belt change is an engine out job - costs £000s (£3-5K depending whether Fez franchise or independent). I therefore think that deeper pockets will be required for the Ferrari - plus it costs more to buy in the first place.

OK, I stand corrected £1800. When I was looking at them, I was told £3K by an independent - so I didn't buy one. Also, I could not get an insurance quote below <£2K on a Fez, the Tuscan came in at 1/3 of the money. I expect if I had tried harder, I could have found cheaper - but I gave up!
I'm lucky enough to be running both cars presently.
Difficult choice to have (good one though!
). I personally would ask myself "used Tuscan or F355" and the arguement towards the TVR are more compelling.
For at least £10k less than a good F355, you can get a mint year old Tusc.
For all out grunt the TVR wipes the floor with the F355, I got in the Fezza after a drive in the Tusc on Sunday and it honestly felt slow.
But you only have to shut the door on the Fcar and you know where the extra £ had gone. A solid sound for a solidly built car. It's the "whole package" I'm slowly growing to
the Stallion...
Try them both, new Tusc: lose too much £, Fezza more £ but kudos from all. Used Tusc, kudos from Petrolheads and you save a package.

Don't forget the hidden costs. My tusc was scraped by a hit and scarper scumbag. The GRP is very resilient to minor knocks. Just a £250 respray of a wing. New finish better than TVR's. I suspect the same impact to a 355 would have damaged metal leading to an expensive new wing and paint. Got to be way over a grand.
Fixed price servicing for a Fezza is now a reality and it does bring costs down to a more manageable level. HOWEVER, this is assuming NOTHING goes wrong with the car. Parts are notoriously expensive and labour to fix them, although cheaper than you might expect, just takes time..... your service might be £1800 but the other remedial work needed will often bring a service into the £3K bracket. If you can afford it then great, but I am afraid that a TVR will be much more manageable cost than a 355....
Warranties and deals can be done on both, but seeing as there are some seriously good experts on the SP6 engine, I would be much more happy going this route rather than a 355.
As for loosing a packet on a TVR - dont quite agree. Sports cars of this size and type (i.e. two seater and very fast) appeal to a small market and hence need to be in perfect condition with the ideal mileage and the right colour / spec. Otherwise you will pay the price. A Ferrari is even more susceptible to mileage and demand and do be warned that demand is VERY fickle - a 348 is regarded as cheap these days (ok, I know its not the best one), but they go for less than a 328 WTF?!?!?! A 355 will very quickly plumet in depreciation once cheaper 360's come on the market.
Buy a 355 and keep an eye on the market and you will be fine, but miss the boat and you will loose a packet. To a certain degree its the same with a TVR, but less so - get a Tuscan for £44K and sell later for £30K and loose £14k or get a 355 for £50k (get a good 'un) and sell later for £35k - there is little in it....
