Auto Trader.......Database.......

Trying to get rid of my old Astra, but the damn thing just keeps hanging around. Anyway, I've put it on Auto Trader, but I got scared by the fact the ad is written for you with EVERY DETAIL OF THE CAR!!! I entered the Reg, and some other, non car related info, clicked continue and it has 1990 Vauxhall Astra 1.2 5dr Merit Blah Blah Blah. I clicked edit ad and it even told me the damn colour!!

Anyone know what database they use, and is it the same on the insurance companies use?!?! Surely it must be linked to the DVLA in some way, but I didn't think they were allowed to give out information to anyone but the police and the registered keeper!!!

I think they can use any data that relates to the car only - i.e. colour, make etc but no data about owner/location?

Bit scary, but has to be a good thing, surely?
At least it's one way of stopping (or slowing) the trade in stolen cars?
