...here in New Zealand, that they may introduce a similar fining system that they have overseas. This means that the more you earn the more you pay. This really sucks and not fair considering many of the fines I can only assume would be mostly issued to young boy racers who barely have a dime to their name. Just another revenue gathering scheme if you ask me.

I can't see it happening to be honest. With all the noise going on about Dr Brash's recent speech I think the political climate for introducing a law that singles out a sector of society for special treatment would be unfavourable to say the least!

My wife seems to be picking up speeding fines like a tramp picks up dog-ends. So much so that I've employed the talents of a south island electronics firm to produce a speed limiter for her car (one that I can overide!). She is a housewife and therefore earns jack-sh*t so will she have to pay nothing under the proposed rules or will yours truly get stung even harder for someone else's mistakes? I think I can guess the answer to that one.

I'd like to slap the twat that suggested the idea.

I heard that too, but the Dominion Post reported that Helen Clark had vetoed the idea straight away as being unfair and unworkable. She will however, support higher fines for anyone who calls her an athiest or has had extramarital affairs. Or has the surname Brash.

I think that it is a great idea. I will be retired and earn nothing. No income no fine!! I wish.

The best things is if your a farmer or own your business.
They quite often have negative income. ie write it off to the business

So does this mean you could get paid for speeding?

I was driving up SH1 yesterday afternoon, just south of Christchurch. Anyway, I ended up following a Highway Patrol car, which just happened to be following ANOTHER Highway Patrol car.
But wait it gets worse, then we all passed a speed camera van!

OMG talk about "effective policing"

Has anuyone noticed that there are not so many radar cop cars around at present - at least where I drive.
A while ago I couldn't move without the Valentine One going off - and a huge number of plain cothes & instant on radar systems as well.

Wonder if they're on some sort of rotation??

As long as it is net earnings not gross earnings they wont get to many people paying the bigs ones as most people smart enought to have a 6 figure salary are able to deduct a fair few living costs etc and earn next to nothing
