I'm at home (alone - apart from toddler-JTW's bear and an annoying fly) today as I'm a bit poorly and my brain is over active and for some reason, it has decided that I should eat some Spam.

However, it's occurred to me that Spam, as well as the above listed food items, are real marmite dishes and a good proportion of people I know can't stand offal dishes or those that are considered "nasty" (which is where Spam fits in) - is it just me that likes these kinds of foods on PH?

( Faggots are listed for childish amusement value....)

Not helped by the fact that I've realised I've only got Corned beef in and no spam....

I love 'em all!

My only 'marmite' foodstuff is marmite itself.

Oh, and the raw liver I tried in Kyoto..... vomit

my wife calls spam cat food. Tastes good to me, especially battered and fried :P I don't like the texture of kidney or liver, not over keen on the taste either. I quite like the taste of heart, but again not the texture. Mostly though if I can eat it, I will.

I also quite enjoy Mutton which is, for some reason, not enjoyed by others.

Not to mention Steak Tartare, beef as rare as is possible and Marmite - love it.

Vegemite on the other hand - bleugh...

I haven't had Spam since I was a very young boy, and I really can't say I miss it.

Worst thing I've eaten: Thousand Year Old eggs in Hong Kong
vomit
(there's a theme here for awful food items from Asia!)

When I was at Le Mans a couple of years ago I was sat outside the camper van with the biggest hangover I have had in years and I was starving, as I hadn’t ate anything all morning.

I went into the van and found a can of Spam (my father in-law uses the van when he goes fishing) and a tin of plum tomatoes. I then set about making Spam and plum tomatoes sandwiches, I heated up the tomatoes and put them on top of the Spam and to be honest they where amazing – hangover gone and back on the beers - I have never had since

I hope you are joking. Haggis, black pudding, sausage, bacon, eggs and hash browns is the breakfast of choice if I'm in Scotland. (And at home too if I have any haggis spare). My favourite butcher does slicing haggis, basically a longer version that he slices into "burgers", these are superb done on the barbeque.

Well as a Scotsman myself I'd counter that the breakfast of choice should be:

Fruit pudding, black pudding, lorne sausage, tattie scones, mushrooms, bacon & eggs wink

Still wouldn't have Haggis & BP on the same plate. Next time you're up there see if you can find a fish & chip shop which does haggis & chips - a deep fried battered haggis sausage, lovely. No wonder heart disease is so high!biggrin

I wouldn't eat them together....haggis should be with tatties and neeps. Oh or in chicken balmorals.

Black pudding and brown sauce sarnies (and maybe a fried egg)

Agree with Haggis, Tatties, and Neeps. Shouldn't mess with it but don't know what chicken balmorals are?

Black Pudding with crispy bacon and Mustard for me. maybe a fried egg now and then lick
