Traffic congestion north of Worthing?

Any ideas what was going on? Came along the A283 with the S2 towards Washington Roundabout at about ten to five tonight and ground to a halt just after Storrington. Sat their for a while, watched a few ‘U’ turns (with no traffic going in the opposite direction, at all)… Joined the crowd and turned back up through Thakeham onto the A24 at Ashington, A24 southbound was okay. No traffic coming onto A24from the A283 at Washington Roundabout. Then, the A280, Long Furlong was at a Standstill West of Findon Roundabout. Fortunately, I was heading down into Worthing. Lots of Sirens and rushing about from the Emergency Services too.

Doesn't seem to be anything relevant on traffic reports.

S.N.A.F.U perhaps?

Today's incident is a rolled van near the Crematorium entrance on the A24. Chaos everywhere - nothing going north after the Findon roundabout apparently.
Southbound should be ok but due to rubberneckers there is a queue back to the washington roundabout.

Yep, we saw the 'Roofing Specialist' Van 'turned turtle'.... Literally about 5 mins after it happened... (edit....about 15:45). The First Ambulance was on the scene... Plod 1 arrived, then Fire 1 and 2, followed by more plod... Walking wounded, but the van, armco and road surface were a bit of a pickle... Quite how the prang happened is a bit obscure... Green Pug 206 type thingy stuck in a bush on the near side, silver car behind it, hard to see if either were damaged...

A right ol' b&lls up...
