Advice - Bus broke my Fiesta's wing mirror
Discussion
Hiya,
Just after some advice really or if anyone has had similar experience?
Last week while on my way to work, I drive through quite a narrow country road, I get to a bend only to be met with a bus staggering the middle white line and over on my side of the road, I tuck as close to the bank as I can but he hits my wing mirror, braking the casing.
The driver of the bus just carried on driving, I turned around and caught up with him at the next bus stop, he apparently had no idea he had hit me, although he didnt speak very good english (apparently) as he was Romanian. I eventually got his name off his driving license and took the bus numberplate and route number.
I've submitted a complaint email to the bus company but they didnt have a phone number on their web site for me to call.
I got a price from Fords for the parts, it needs a whole new unit as the inside bracket has broken away from both sections of the mirror casing. Its an electric mirror and the replacements are £100 (for unit) and £20 (for surround) plus vat on both.
The bus company said that they have reviewed CCTV from the bus and say that because both vehicles were moving at the time of the impact they are willing to pay £75 towards the cost of repair, I have declined this and they have now sent the details to their insurance company.
Does anyone know what I should expect? I've not gone through my insurance due to the excess and it being recorded as an 'incident' on my policy.
I'm getting it repaired this week

See how much you can get, tbh. Last time a lorry smashed my wing mirror, the owner of the firm didn't believe me (I was parked in traffic at the time, too). Best move is to make sure there's not a chance they can get by so no damage can be done or make it such that they can't get by at more than 1mph. If any of you lot disagree, I'll concede if you give me £100 towards my wing mirror.
