no, not that kind!

I find that even with the grid-lines on my d90 on and me concentrating hard, my pictures are usually all on the cock and the same way by about the same amount.

Noticed it this weekend when taking pictures from a rib at llandudno with the horizon. I know the rib would be moving but even if my brain thinks it looks level when taking - looking back after and its on the cock.

I assume it's some brain thing with my eyes, but does anybody know of any techniques to make it better? Tripod is not an option! (nor is a hammer to the head smile)

You decree clockwise?

I'm normally 0.5 decree CW BTW smile

I have the gridlines on but in fact rarely consciously use them - I look through the viewfinder at the whole picture and it usually just works. Composition, framing, orientation all in one, bish bash bosh!

Looks like it's not just me then!
Problem is taking sailing photos usually means quick point and shoot without much time for composition other than a quick mental two thirds and zoom in or out. It doesn't help being in a rib on the open waves! Sometimes sat with the shutter half-pressed waiting for a wave to hit a boat or for the sailor to look in the right direction, so no time for gizmos or spirit levels!

Think I'll just have to train my brain a few degrees the wrong way!
