Any good?

I was looking at W124s here in Germany, they are very expensive (relatively, for 200k km 15 yr old + cars)

W202s seem a bargain comparitively, presumably there's a reason for that

124's are classics. Many will have fallen by the wayside. What's left is the stuff that has had a better life. The last of the over-engineered cars.
The C class were at the start of the period when things started to slip - the accountants had a greater hand. That's not to say that some models will not be good cars - depending on previous owners etc. Its also a small car.
I was going to get a C200, but glad I went for the E220 (S124). I would love a C124, and still pondering whether I should have got an A124 rather than the R170 230K.
At the end of the day its what seat you would like to put your bum on - and how you will use the car. My S124 was under £2k - and there are plenty of acceptable ones here at that price. But if I had to buy again I would pay the money asked by the top specialists if needed to ensure I secured I nice 124 - that's how much I love mine.
Recently saw a 300D in our local supermarket car park (left hooker) - 850k kilometres !!!

Yes - confusing
S - estate
W - saloon
C - coupe
A - cabrio
The popularity of the 124 series can be shown by all the websites dedicated to the range. Go on - you know you want to.

That left hooker was white and bore a UK registration - J from memory - but could of course have had some connection of our friends from the eastern end of Europe.

I've had a Saloon and Estate, both were brilliant. The only problem with them was that the estate was later and needed some rust around the wheel arches sorting.
