Starsky And Hutch Gran Torino fever
Discussion
If you wanna see some hype look up "Gran Torino" on US ebay and see all the ridiculous prices for what is an old yank saloon that nobody really wants.
You can bet anyone with an old beater of a Torino is painting it red with a white stripe as we speak!
There's even the wrong year cars painted "S&H" colours and a company thats building 24 replicas "to the highest standards". That'll be better than the original disposable Ford then...
Check out the limited edition Ford 1976 car used in the series(not even totally original though it sounds like a quick one with a 429) at $70,000:

A spare from the new film (not used)$30,000: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31836&item=2465725977
They're really coming out of the woodwork now $25,000: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31836&item=2466851435
If anyone remembers the guy from the Guildford cruise who had one (probably still does and is loving it I'd imagine) his car is real nice and I could tell he was a real enthusiast before all the hype.
Shame I always loved the S&H series and the car but when I grew up and found out what mid 70's US cars were I stopped idolising a car that probably couldn't outrun or outhandle a Morris Marina.
On a previous S&H retrospective (not the one on TV last night) Paul Michael Glaser described their Torino as "the most awful of American cars" sying it wouldn't corner and needed work and an axle change to get it to spin the tyres. David Soul also hated it.
But the fans love it...Wonder what theses cars will be going for when the movie hype dies down, I might even pick one up myself if it's a few hundred quid!
