Need to get a new digital compact camera and trying to find one that is also good for short video clips. Only need it typical tourist photos etc so nothing amazing. Ideal Budget is around £150 but have just seen the Lumix TZ8 for £220 which looks a nice camera. Can i get away with only spending £150ish or do i need to go above £200?

Thanks

Find cheaper Lumix model if want to save money. TZ5, 6 etc. All of them are very very good cameras.

I have the tz5 & the tz7 the 7 is hd so brilliant quality but the format is different so doesn't play on all devices

I'd recommend the tz series to anyone - very good cameras

Thanks

Just beeng reading a whole lot of reviews and it seems like the Auto focus on the TZ7 can be a little blurred when using the video feature. This was corrected on the TZ10.

Gonna go for either a TZ10 (better zoom) or Sony HX5 (better video) Both about £250. Screw the budget I guess. Need to decide on the new Laptop now. Bugger.

Any views on the audio? I've got a TZ5 and the audio quality on films is shocking.

FT1 video quality is fantastic, but the audio isn't that good. But then it is waterproof, and its primarily a camera.

Had a Kodak before the Panny, it offered the same resolution video - 1280x720, 30fps, MP4. But the AVCHD codec seems to be considerably better, and the Panasonic lets you zoom whilst recording.
