Sorry if i'm bringing up old posts, but is there a thread where everyone has listed at least one of their favourite UK road.

If not could we do it?

I'll go first;

1)The Cat and Fiddle road!

Follow the A371 in somerset to Cheddar Gorge. Go up through cheddar gorge and out the top, follow road along the top to T-junction, turn left then follow road all the way down through Burrington Combe. Awesome mix of short & twisties, and long straights.

Not so sure listing our fav roads is a good idea. Some unscrupulous scamera related person might come along and decide that these roads are in need of of their dreadful tax devices.....

Mind you, too late for the C+F , too many cameras/police already for my liking, so it's no longer 'up there' in my list.

But if I had to list a road I'd say, any road south of the Channel

A4059 - end of discussion, old RAC rally stage, perfect smooth wide tarmac, high speed bends, hairpins, hill climb etc

Worth a drive to West Wales any weekend.

Old Rac rally stage are you sure? It is very rare and hard to get public roads shut in the UK for Rallys. The Manx rally in the Isle of Man and the Jim Clark memorial rally in the Scottish borders are the only two I have ever heard of.

The A701 from Edinburgh to Moffat is one of my favs

I Regulary go up there, at least once a week, and only seen 1 cop car.

It all depends on where you go

Where?

Seriously, where would you put a gatso on it?

Why would it help? The people who go along that road, and crash, go along there all the time(5 or 6 times a day at weekend!!!), so you will know where it is, it wont make any difference, and if you dont know that road, you generally dont tend to push it anyway!

A70 from M74 to Edinburgh for me.
No traffic, no cameras, no bib, sparse population. fast bends, slow bends, straights the lot. In fact around some corners I've developed my own racing line.
Only problem is requirement for new brake pads after each run.

MPs are a curious breed. Especially if their surname is Winterton.

A bit selfish, but I wasn't going to say, but seeing as someone else has I can confirm. A701 is one of my all time favorites. Just sprouted scamera signs. Make sure you slow down through Broughton and other villages.
