Just a thought - looking at the forum for car chases, it made me think - whats everybody's favourite all time photo.

I think mine is going to have to be Evo. Issue 35 with the Vanquish article - utterly gorgeous car...utterly gorgeous scenery...

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Indeedy so.

I believe they 'slightly' exceeded their road test mileage allowance (and the grip of the rear tyres by the sounds of it at times)

"Riddle of the Sands".

It was a picture used in Car magazine back in the 80's and showed a Countach and a Testarossa at rest on a beach. They also gave it away to subscribers as a gift.
Around the same time they used a moody shot of a 308 GTB on a misty dockside.

However, pick up any current edition of Evo and you'll find plenty of stunning photograpy.

It was one of the reasons why I forked out for a sub with evo - the photos make dribble evry issue.

The cover always looks a million dollars.

I subscribed to evo on the basis of only having fast, interesting cars with decent photoshoots. Good to have a mag that covers different manufacturers without an suv cupholder in sight. The best mag's I've bought were special editions, called Supercars and Worlds Fastest Cars. Anyone else pick up those 6ish months ago? Awesome tests.

I did, and was suitably impresses. Evo does get a bit generalised sometimes - I suppose thats the price to pay in order to keep the masses buying (after all the more money they make - the more money they can spend on the mag).

I know you all hate the 4x4's but sometimes having a shed load of power in a roly poly car can be fun - me ma has an old Rangey 4.2 V8 short wheelbase and is ace fun off traffic lights (just try going round a corner - it dosen't).

Anyone remeber the Evo review of the X5 with the LeMans engine in it - quite mad....

Funnily enough I used to drive a 4.0 Cherokee to the station some years ago. Went like stink for a big ugly lump. Not quite as vaugue as you might imagine round corners. Never again though!

That's right - were he in publishing, the line would be white and powdery...

It's true the photos in EVO are pretty spot on but I also remember a picture by a guy called Stan Papoir in Autocar (I think) it was of a Jag C type amongst some trees, early in the morning in a sort of twilight with mist coming up from the grass - fantastic photo.

Of course we couldn;t replicate that because we don't have al the tri-pods and remote flash and lighting etc. but I wonder if these guys do freelanc work, they could do a good day's work if we got 5 or 6 cars together and hired them for a half-day to do the snapping! Rich...
