Accident At Goodwood Moving Motor Show

Injuries and damage as Honda Civic Type R runs amok

An accident has occurred at the inaugural running of the Moving Motor Show, after a driver at the wheel of Honda’s Civic Type R Mugen appeared to lose control inside the Ride and Drive hall.

It is thought that three pedestrians were struck inside the hall, and we are still waiting for information about the severity of their injuries. The condition of the driver is unknown, but he appears to have remained in the driving seat for some minutes after the incident.

According to spectators, it appeared the driver floored the throttle and shot straight off the Honda stand, diagonally across the central pedestrian walkway, across the Jaguar stand opposite and finally crashing through the back of the hall.

As well as striking pedestrians, the Honda also crashed into a Jaguar XKR and the oldest surviving E-Type Jaguar – both of which appear to have sustained superficial damage.

Marshals and rescue crews immediately attempted to clear the area, and the Ride and Drive element of the event has been suspended.

Why does that sort of thing never happen when i'm around!!! The driver probably heard someone was selling a hot-dog for less that £7.50 at the other end of the Estate and rushed to beat the rapidly forming queue..... laugh

(Seriously though.... i hope everyone was ok!)

Ride & drive hall?

I'm thinking a) it's clearly not big enough and b) silly idea in the first place.

Did it have the Toyota accelerator system upgrade?

Indeed hope that there were no serious injuries though.

hope noone was seriously injured....

as for the driver, fail.
Hope something went wrong with the car, because if it didn't then there some massive payouts required and he'll be fitting the bill!!

I can't help thinking questions are going to be asked by 'health and safety' types. A couple of the professional drivers I've heard from (unofficially) seemed to have raised eyebrows about the idea of letting punters drive cars through a busy thoroughfare.

Still it's easy to be wise after the event.

DAM it you beat me to a toyota gag.

Does seem a odd thing to do as by the sounds of it the guy covered quite a distance before coming to a halt.

I did wonder if perhaps this would be the one and only year the moving motorshow would happen....

sounds like the guy suffered from some kind of medical problem which caused him to lose control? doesn't look like an especially big impact. Otherwise why would he have remained in the car for some time before he got out? Hope everyone involved is ok.
