ok my sas brothers and sisters
after hooning around norway for 10 days and being the only fwd car on tour i need some rwd fun I am after my first rwd car.
my budget is £2500k max. im preferably after a 2 door saloon/coupe.
im not intrested in any mx5's or any convertibles.
i have been looking at bmw e30 325i Sports but at the moment the only ones within budget are convertibles or really high millage.
would prefer something with a lsd fitted. and as factory original as possible not to messed with.

so there is my challange RWD £2500 Not an mx5 not a convertible but and has a lsd

Not really checked any prices but I think some rev2 MR2 turbos came fitted with a limited slip diff and I'm fairly certain some S14 200Xs did too. May be wrong though...

Also remember reading sometime back that the X300 XJR (6 cylinder supercharged jobbie) also had a LSD fitted. They are pretty cheap now too!

Have you looked at the E36 328i, Nick? They offer great value for money and quite a few have LSDs fitted.

iv looked at that porker lakelord and i think the main issue would be insurance lol.
i for got to ad prefer a manuel please no autos.
otherwise i would of had a sniff at that 190.

I had an E30 325i Sport for a while a few years back and it was awesome, still the best car I've owned for the fun value.
I would rather have a decent one of those, than most E36 variants.

thats what i keep on thinking furry i would rather have something a little oldskool with the minimal amount of electric assists as possible my list of contenders that i would like are.

I'd check out E36 328i Sports if I was you Nick. Some came with factory option LSD. Got my eye on them myself as a potential second car/winter motorway hack. I'm hoping to have a £2k budget to play with; theres plenty about for that and less.

I have also been pondering the E30 325i too. Love the 80's-tastic styling and I'm sure a good one would be a riot. But tin-worm and other age related issues worry me. Plus they seem to command strong money - with good reason no doubt - which seems a bit excessive for my purposes.

Have a yearning for an E34 540i too. Finding a fit one with a manual gearbox is key. A conversation to be had with Nigel at some point for sure

I'd love an MX5 but can't really justify one alongside the Elise as a motorway car! I want more than 4 cylinders too. Think you're missing a trick ruling them out though.

all very valid points john no doubt mx-5 and elise a bit to tight for me in my current frame lol.

i think an e30 could be free motoring if i can get the right one for right price lol. the seam to have hit there rock bottom price and are on the way back up.

Here's another option, one which I'm sure you'll like

Sell the ford, buy a much better car like a Z4m coupe which also has the advantage of toys for when the weather starts being st, then you don't need two cars.

My gut feeling is that decent E30 prices have already risen some way off bottom. Whilst the E36 is probably right at the bottom of its curve now. (I'm no expert on either mind!) So both look a good buy from a depreciation perspective. E36 probably slightly better - seems more car for the money IMHO.

Elise? Forget about it!

Get yourself on sxoc.com and there are plenty of tidy s13's there, all set up to drift with either the rear diff welded for full on tail action or LSD in later models. Square indicators on front = early model, tear drop means late and norm a LSD, and better brakes. Cheap, easy to boost the power up, essential for drifting. A 325 might be cooler but they are going to be alot more limited of bhp increases if you feel you need it. My vote s13 or a s14 will do nicely. Just check for rust and sloppy bushes. But again pineapple solid rear subframe bushes are cheap and easy to fit, will lock that out tight!
