Bonnet Quilt

Hi all

A couple of years ago, my under bonnet quilt was hanging down, but I was able to stick it back with some aproxy putty, this has been fine till now, it is hanging down again, but now more difficult to sticking it back.

I am considering taking it down, what are the disadvantages?

Will the heat be a problem with the bonnet paintwork?

Its not there on later models - and I'd have thought you'd improve the heat situation by removing it - otherwise its like insulating your roof.

Surly sound proofing is the last thing one would want

I've always been worried about them dropping down and jamming the throttle, and I still dont really see the point of them apart from soundproofing on Diesels.

Mine was in poor condition and I decide to replace, I was quoted £160 for a replacement by a well known rural TVR dealer in Worcestershire so I bought a share in an order from 'Noisekiller'. Cut it and stuck it, 'self adesive' and it fell off. Cleaned the inside of the bonnet and followed instructions from Noisekiller as I restuck it. All was well for a while but it fell off again after SCH 2010.

So I threw it away, there was no discernable difference in noise levels with or without it s o I think its a wast of time. My bonnet in now nude on the inside and so it will stay!!!
