Been using the new layout that flickr seem to be changing over to.

And.

I hate it furiousfuriousfuriousfuriousfuriousfurious

Much more of a ball ache to navigate and they seem to have got rid of the URL grab when you go to all sizes.

Anyone else fancy venting splean?

If its just me i'll getmecoat

Noticed it today. They seem to be trying to turn it into a social networking site

Yes your right actually I hadnt thought about it in that way.

Once there was form and function.

Now theres "look this is where I took a photo" and "ive got a 1 friend in this photo"......

I dont care.....

Although I do like that they have made the preview image bigger... ssshhhhhh

I'm the same ofcorsa this was the sole reason for using flickr as I thought it was a place for people with a genuine passion for photography.

Not somewhere to dump photos of when im pissed on a friday night with my arse out. (not that happens often mind) If I would be that way inclined I'd do it on facespag like everyone else.

Is it finished now??
When I was on there earlier I could just see a preview so maybe they are'nt finished tinkering with it?

I don't like it either frown

Its getting to the point now i'm thinking of closing my flickr account - don't really feel it benefits me anymore.

Not loving it so far, I'll see how it goes. They aren't afraid to react to criticism, so send them some feedback.

I don't mind it too much. Check your setting as to what people can see. Also, pop in below and have a moan if you don't like it wink

I think its on the lightbox viewer, you can right click and save as

  • Regarding the issue where you can right-click and save an image from the lightbox, we realize this is an important issue and are working on it now. **

Doesn't seem too different, aside from some layout and web-twoeyness. The geo stuff has been there for ages, but wasn't made such a big deal of (I quite like that actually), might be annoying if you never geotag photos.

I haven't really noticed the social side of things, there is facebook integration already so I don't think they'll be moving more toward that pissed-arse-snap thing. Hopefully.

I quite like it actually, not going to be seeing "View on Black" on photos much more now.

I actually like it. The preview is bigger, and it's far more obvious how to get a larger version of the pic. Clicking on the picture did nothing before (total waste) but now takes you to a larger version on black which is a big improvement. And there are instantly recognisable icons for enlarging rather than a rather lame and easily missed "all sizes" link.

Yes, the map and the other social aspects are a bit 'meh' for me, but overall I think it's a much needed revamp.

Sorry to buck the trend on the inevitable moaning whenever something changes. smile

One thing I've just noticed is that if you open it in Internet Explorer 6.0 (works computer, don't ask...) then the formatting is all wrong and it crashes!

^ If microsoft no longer support IE6, then why should flickr?

My solution when building sites myself, * html * {display:none}. You'll see a white screen, nothing else.

Think yourself lucky you see anything on flickr hehe

I think I prefer it. The layout is a little clearer (Flickr was never as intuitive as it should have been on first acquaintance), the larger preview size makes sense with monitor sizes growing, and the Lightbox, with its black background and pics that resize to match the window size, is rather neat. Actually, what is there not to like?
