SLK gearbox

Hi guys,

My uncle has left his 56 plate SLK on my drive. I need to move the car but for the life of me can not get it into reverse. It is a normal 6 speed manual. I have tired lifting and pushing down on the gear stick but no joy!

If someone can tell me and make me feel like an idiot that would be great.

Mine went 2 years ago so trying to remember.... but it's either push down first (which I don't think it is) or just a very strong push to the correct position. You need bigger muscles

I may be a little late to this one, but in case you're still out there, there's no mechanical detent (push/pull/whatever), it's just a very firm spring to push against. Give it a bit of welly.
