I'm amazed that the BMW came off so well in that accident - the LFA looks as if it just folded up when it hit. Very scary.

Terrible news.

Two points to consider:

1) It looks like the LFA is well to the left of the road and contact was made right front corner of both cars, yet you drive on the right in Germany...
2) Sales of the LFA may come to a complete standstill if this is the result of a collision with a relatively ordinary saloon. Not what you'd expect of a circa 200mph supercar.

The LFA does not look that badly damaged from those pics - certainly not to the extent that two helmet wearing occupants would be killed.

This is exactly what I thought when I saw those pictures. Ok there is a fair bit of intrusion in to the right hand side foot well but it doesnt appear life threatening but then again, it all depends on the speeds when the collision occurred. if they were just wearing helmets with no neck protection and collided at the speed limit there would be a large amount of forces on the necks.
Never the less

Looking that the pics in the 2nd posted link, is that blood, on the helmet???

It doesn't look like graphics.

very very sad, is it a touch unusual for two test vehicles to collide head on on public roads or was this a test track a bit like millbrook?

Very sad. The cars in question are two test cars. I'm guessing the combined speed was well into 3 figures so it's really not surprising. It looks like the 3 series has gone over the top of the Lexus

From what i can tell, the BMW was coming from the 'ring, the LFA heading towards, just past the junction at Boos.

Does look like the LFA is way over to the left, but cars can go anywhere post impact. The engines in the back of the LFA but the front of the BMW?

Out of interest, do super/hypercars get NCAP tested?

Sad news indeed, hope the BMW people end up ok though.

The closing speed of those 2 cars must have been very high.

I thought LFAs had a full carbon structure/tub, kinda expected it to hold up better than that? But I guess there are more variables than meet the eye,
