Never used the camera "in anger" at Goodwood before.
Not got a long lens as yet, so will be using an 18-55, for panning shots I think I should be using about 125 as a shutter speed, anyone else got any tops tips?

Have you hacked the firmware?

Not sure the 300D can use AI servo in anything other than sport mode so you may be stuck with manual focusing or single focus?

Also dont think it has a huge framebuffer so you may have to shoot jpg.

Hi, my pics from last year with a Canon 400D are on Flickr. They're straight out of the camera so you can check out the "More properties" links if you want exposure etc details of any you like.

This one is at 55mm so you can do OK with a short lens.

I usually use aperture priority, 1/250th-1/320th second shutter, AI-servo mode on the focus, manual focal point selection (use the centre point) and centre weighted average for exposure metering.

My first time last year and I found you could get pretty close to everything. A 200mm lens would be good for some spots on the hillclimb. Most of mine were taken with my Tamron 55-200 which only cost me £70 new - I see they've gone up but are still £105 new - cheaper on eBay? A very decent lens for the money, I use it for all my rally shots too.

Looking forward to going again!

I found a return or shop soiled Canon 70-200mm in Dixons a couple of years ago for £24. Only thing wrong with it was a missing lens cap. Figured for £24 you couldn't go far wrong, and I don't need a long lens very often, so the price was right. I think the lens only costs about £70 new iirc.

In my opinion its a cheap way of deciding whether you want to invest serious bucks in a decent lens at a later date.
