A new need for speed is out in November - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6ouHWP0KrY

I was a big fan of the underground series years ago and the same with Most Wanted. I have never really been interested in the newer circuit style ones and they have always been too arcade like.

This one goes back to Cops V Racers which is always good fun as well as having proper licensed cars.

The only problem I see with this is the fact there will be both TDU2 and GT out around the same time. So won't be PH's first choice. Still looks fun all the same though!

I loved the early ones like you, agree the more racer arcade style lost me, so be interested in this.
I have fond memories of chases lasting over 2 hours on one of the games.

i completed all of the "street" ones except most wanted.

NFS: Underground
NFS: Underground 2 (a favourite)
NFS: Carbon
NFS: Undercover

undercover was OK, but i loved being able to tweak the tune of the car in U2, and hydraulics. NFS games should be OTT, having said that, i realy enjoyed NFS: Porsche Challenge back in the day.

It does look good. Online is 8 players and ranges from 1 cop to 7 racers or 7 cops and 1 racer with everything in between. Sounds like it will be good fun online especially as it is open world.

Interview with someone here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rUgaCtk2KA

I hope it is as good as the early ones. NFS of late has been poor. We will have to wait and see if it rival TDU2 or GT5 though. So many good games coming out in autumn!

How come not Most Wanted? I thought that was the best one since Underground 2.

Edited to say the first clip of the cliff road looks epic.

Shift was good in soo many ways, but was crap in one of the most important. Handling.

It looked great, the sense of speed you get driving them was amazing and also the car noises, the range of tracks etc. Just a shame that you had no idea what the car would do when you turned into a corner!

NFS 3, 4 and 5 were classics. NFSU2 was amazing too, but they've dropped the ball with the recent ones.

This looks great, hopefully they will sort it out from the others which were, quite frankly, crap.

My favourite ever NFS games was Road Challenge on the PS. Was an awesome game that, spent many an hour unlocking the two fastest cars, the Mercedes AMG CLK GTR and the McLaren F1 LM. Awesome game, would love them to make a modern version of it as this game incorporated cop chases quite nicely, but as someone has already mentioned on here it may not find favour among those willing to go for TDU2 instead... frown

Was this the one on the original Playstation with a police E39 M5 in full 'jam sandwich' livery?

I enjoyed that game too but it was donkeys years ago.

ETA: Ahh not the one I was thinking which was NFS: High Stakes (in 1999 yikes)

Most Wanted was my favourite. Still have it for the PC somewhere. Selling my PS2 with it soon. Used to love sitting on the roof of the bus station for ages with the cops just banging into the walls unable to get to you.

The NFS series was always at its best for me when there were cops, rather than an arcade racer. NFS Undercover wasnt that good tho.

NFS 1 was where it was at, NFS 2 had loads of "normal" cars too, used to love caining old VW Beetles around the mountain roads smile

("BUGME" was the cheat code IIRC;))

Bugme - Beetle
Quatme - Audi 200
Busme - Bus
Trexme - T-Rex

and so on.....

Classic games , i never got on with the series after Underground.
But the original , NFS2 , NFS3 : Hot Pursuit , NFS 4 : Road Challenge were brilliant.
