Hi all, i have a leak, so thought manifold off and bought a new rachet 72 teeth, for hard to get at places 11-14 mm sockets, hoping that being new would help grip
the bolts. Anyway none of them fit, so doi need AF not metric?
Also, i don't really want to do this at all, it's a winter job, now is for drivng, and you know this will go wrong, snapped bolt, engine out, lots of tears etc.
Started stripping alternator etc and can now see the leak (see pic)
What i want to know, is there a product i could use to fill the gap/hole, that might last the summer, then i can sort it in the winter.

looks like you have a distinct lack of gasket there.....personally, I'd soak it in penetrating fluid for a good week or so...keep reapplying it, and then get it off and fit a gasket. I know it's risky removing them, but so long as you don't force anything too much you shouldn't have a problem. Mine are a 13mm head...1/2" should be a very tight "hammer on" fit which is useful if you round off the heads.

Bolt heads should be 13mm but look very corroded, as Tant says try 1/2" AF, its slightly smaller than 13mm and either single hex for better "grip" or maybe one of those sockets that work on the flats of the bolt head rather than corners ?
Use a proper penetrating oil, not WD40 and again,as already advised, allow time to soak in.
Unfortunately I wouldn't expect any brand or type of sealant to last more than a few minutes/miles in that location.
Fingers crossed all comes apart ok and, goes without saying, new bolts coated in copper-slip when it goes back together.

This won't work but will give you some ideas hopefully.
My Gearbox wouldn't line up with the centre bracket - it was offset by a few mm and I spent ages head scratching how to get it to line up - in the end I slipped a scissor jack up the side of the gearbox and hey presto it was easy to push it across.
The jack I assume would be too big but something similar might just pry it open enough to slip a gasket in - or I guess just someone swinging on a bit of wood might just do it.

too big, 12mm wont go on, no room to hammer it, 1/2" too big and if my brain serves me right 7/16 too small, and if it did, the weld on one is too fat, so the socket wont go all the way on.
This is far to risky to chance, a neighbour is getting me some sealant, up to 400 degrees, which he uses on boilers. I must try this. I know if i try and take even two bolts off, they WILL round off or snap. I just can't risk it.
