We're looking to buy a house which is surrounded by open fields. However these fields have got 'Private Land' signs on them from the Homes and Communities agency.

Looking at their website, it seems that they develop areas to create affordable housing. One of the main attractions of this house to us are the fields so if they are likely to be built on, we'll lose interest.

However, I've now noticed this same signs on many of the fields around where we live at the moment. Does anyone know if Home and Communities own this land and what they want to do with it? Would they be any more likely to get planning permission if they did decide to build?

Many thanks.

Steve.

Best to have a chat with the local planning dept - they are usually very helpful (although they won't always give you good news!)

Buy all the affordable houses and bulldoze them?
