my first camera

i seem to be getting interested in photography but i dont want to splash out on anything too fancy just yet.. i was loooking in an argos catalogue and they have 3 reasonably priced cameras that caught my eye.. i was wondering if anyone could tell me which one i would be better off going for.. i have heard high megapixels dont neccessarily mean better quality pictures?..

The advantage of the Canon camera is the possibility of adding the CHDK tweaks which can give access to extra functionality (from the DSLR) not normally available on the cheaper cameras.
