Indoor house photos?
Discussion
Hi all,
House is going on the market and i was far from impressed by the photos the solicitor took - can anyone give me some hints? I'm thinking of using the tripod and getting up high in one corner of the room but apart from that i'm all out.
A google search didn't help.....
Thanks,
Woza.

Unless the rooms are big I'd use a wide-angle lens (around 18mm should be enough) and shoot from centre height. The higher or lower you go, the more perspective distortion you'll get. If there's any barrel or pincushion distortion that bothers you after that, most versions of PS can deal with it.
Don't need a tripod unless you're 96. Stick with ambient light if possible, it's much nicer then flash. Finally, check white balance and adjust if required. Bingo!

There's another thread in there somewhere with a more comprehensive shoot that David Hobby did when he sold his own house but I cant find it at the moment using any search terms I can think of. I'll post it when (if?) I do.

I sold my last two houses like this.
My only top tip is that if you take the photos on dull days, you stand a decent chance of the outside not 'whiting out'

O/T but the person we sold this house to then let it appear on 'Escape to the country' which was WEIRD to watch.

Why would your solicitor take the photos? How odd?
Just get a decent specialist in.
In Scotland we don't have Estate Agents. It is a bit odd, until you get used to it... then you realise there are no Estate Agents... which is great. (Sorry Andy W, if you read this).Just get a decent specialist in.
