An odd problem

My (95)chim' runs much better on hot days, which is odd as you
would expect more power with cool air going into the engine.
It's not an engine temp issue, as on a cold day the performance
doesn't improve when the engine warms up. Yet on a hot day the
car feels great as soon as it is started.
Any thoughts guys? Could this be indicative of a fault somewhere?
BTW engine temp sensor fairly new (4 mths) and no fault codes shown on
my steve heath reader

faulty thermostatic that doesn't close properly? means that the engine never get's up to the correct temperature when it's cold?

Typical isn't it? I put a post up and the car throws a hissy fit!
Came out of work and it wouldn't start?

Fuel pump primed,turned over but no start. I took the
king lead off and there was a feeble spark, so I put
it back on and the engine fired up!?! by the time I
got home though the tickover was very erratic.
