I have just received a rather sad e mail from a PHer who has asked me to spread the word about his stolen Land Rover. Keep your eyes peeled frown

Please contact me with any info and I will pass it on, or reply directly on the thread.

Chris via e mail said:
I had my Land Rover Defender stolen this weekend from Winsford, Cheshire (just around the corner from Oulton Park) from a hotel I was staying at. The vehicle has been prepared and was supposed to be taking part in the Help For Heroes European Rally 2010 which myself and team-mate have managed to raise over £1000, total money raised for the rally is now heading towards a £100k target currently at over £86k. The most gutting thing about the whole affair is it was easily seen that the vehicle was for the rally by the amount of Help For Heroes rally stickers all over it.

The amount of camaraderie I've experienced over the last day has been emotional, I've always been on the other side of help offering and never imagined that I'd need it myself.

The details of the Land Rover are:

L984 TDU - 1994 Land Rover Defender 110 TDi - White Commercial with side windows Distinctive modifications are:
Front Mounted Superwinch with plasma rope Rock Sliders Lamp Guards all round Alloy checkerplate protection on bonnet, wings and door bottoms.
Snorkel
Factory fitted twin fuel tanks (makes it stand out as it has two fillers instead of one).

My race car was on display for the BTCC at Outlon Park this weekend and for security reasons I took away all my equipment as I thought it would be safer in the Land Rover parked directly under a CCTV camera, so the contents missing are:

Sparco Sprint Race suit (red with white, size 62) Peltor Pro Rally Helmet (white, size medium) AWS Race boot (black, size 12) OMP 300mm Suede Steering wheel attached to 1/2 of a snap-off boss Michelin low access pit jack Sealey Tool box with tools Racelogic PerformanceBox (with no leads) and my full spares package for the car (Peugeot 306) in three plastic stack boxes (hubs, bottom arms, coil packs, trailing arms, ECU, wheel bolts etc) Toshiba P10 Camileo HD Camera (with the thread part missing from the bottom)

If you could maybe spare a little time to spread the word at all then I would very much appreciate it, please see attached some pictures of the Defender.

wkers. Really do hope you get it back/find a replacement soon. Where is it possible to donate for your rally? (If indeed it is going ahead still)

But to keep in the pistonheads theme, it's your fault for having nice things people want to steal paperbag

It will probably be on a container ship already frown

Some pikeys have just taken over some land near the Tesco in Cirencester, where i'm at uni. Since they moved in there have been a noticable increase in the number of thefts around town.

A friend of a friend had his defender's window put through and the contense of the landy taken.

My friend spotted a pikey poking around his smart td5 90 the other day on his driveway, since then it is never parked without a steering lock and clutch lock.

I brought this Defender. Its all been wrapped up now. A very costly excersice for me being the one who ended up having to buy it twice at market value. Not great in my low pay occupation. People who steal cars should be (*&^$^ *( *£$ ((**$&&£( and then *(*&&*$(()
