My kids seem to spend alot of time digging up that area, and brookwood and swinley and bagshot and anywhere there is sand,They are not alone either.Seems to be a huge surge in trainee groundworkers of the 15 year old persuasion armed with spades and rakes.

Just don't go on the ranges when the red flag is up, you'll become the target if you do!!!! From memory of my shooting days we always had to rush to finish by four so we didn't shoot members of the public.

On the other training grounds, just steer clear of people dressed as bushes, and definatly dont do what one young lad did to me once and try and strike up a conversation when they are trying to be part of the scenery!!!laugh

We use Ash ranges as a stage for the Tempest rally, the tracks round the perimeter have red flags at very regular positions so each can be seen from the next. The other obvious giveaway is the sound of gun fire.... hehe

My old house pretty much backed onto the ranges, even with the flags up I used to ride the perimeter - about 8 miles and a good ride. There are a couple of good technical downhill and uphill bits too - I have the scars to prove biggrin

There are miles more off road stuff surrounding, I used to go out for the entire day on Sunday and still find places I had never been before.
