Intermittent fault ???
Discussion
I may have discovered the cause of the intermittent fault I saw on the run to SCH...
changed the coil and have not had a problem since... had a great run out to Ingleton yesterday...

Now, I fitted a DLB105 coil (I now have a DLB125 ready to go on)and it works great... does anyone know what the difference is between a DLB105 and 125 ? should I swap them over right away or just carry the new DLB125 as a spare ?

I'm surprised there have been no advice or opinions on the question of DLB105 vs 125 coil so have had a ratch around and find the following on various sites/forums
DLB105 is considered a High Performance version of the DLB101 which is described as an Oil Filled 12v coil (so just points? ) replacing OE Bosch/Ducellier coils.
DLB125 is described as Oil Filled Electronic Coil replacing OE Bosch/Motorcraft...
DLB105 has primary resistance of 3.0 Ohms so is not suitable for ballast resisted systems
DLB105 suits "ALL"(?) non-ballast wiring 4 and 6 cyl engines
DLB105 is not suitable for "some" (?) electronic ignition systems (Luminition etc)
DLB105 should not be used with permanent 12v electronic ignition
DLB105 may require fitment of additional resistor if fitted in conjunction with electronic ignition where pulse sensed rev counter is driven by the coil.
All of which leaves me no further forward on my question nor any wiser so what do you think ?
I'll replace the DLB105 with the DLB125 asap as I already have one but would have carried the DLB105 as a spare... not so sure now...

Glad that the car is now sorted Kevin (- what did I say about the problem?? Intuition? - more like guesswork ...) No idea re the alternative coils though.

Cheers Jim - yes it feels sorted now too. my excuse for driving down to Ingleton was I left a co-op divi card there a few weeks ago Jim
I'm trying to figure out what I might have left at John O'Groats for my next spin K

could do with some answers on the coil stuff though
