driving along in town, boot it, speedo stays around 10, revo seems all over the place. then they stay frozen. turn off for a bit, now they seem to work but rest = around 2,250 rpm and 20mph, everything else seems to be what it should be, plus 2000 rpm plus 20mph. this is not good. any way oof resetting things?

you need to re-set it, ie. power cycle the dash a couple of times.

what do you mean by power cycle? I tried turning the ignition on and off to positions 0 and 2, 0 and 2, 0 and 2 - no change. Have also seen that you can leave door open, hold mileage reset button in and then turn key and that is supposed to do it, but doesn't work for lots of people by the looks of things. Left the car a week whilst at Le Mans and it is still doing 20mph at standstill and overreading by about 20mph throughout

unplug your battery overnight. see if that works

check the speedo sensor on the nearside rear hub is not damaged (try cleaning it or sparying it with contact cleaner)

You might have a dodgy earth, check the earth cable at the battery, mine snapped and caused no end of problems before i got it sorted
