A few of you will be experimenting with video on your DSLRs like I am, and so thought this might be useful.

I was a bit disappointed with the difficulty in using the LCD screen for video (as the viewfinder doesn't operate in video mode) - awkward to see through, lots of shake holding the camera, difficult to focus etc. So I did a bit of reading and bought one of these:
http://www.lcdvf.com from here: http://www.glidetrack.com

After a bit of reading the competition was between the Zacuto Z-finder, the lcdvf and the Hoodman Hoodloupe.

The Z-finder gets very good write-ups, but perhaps the 3x magnification is a bit big for some - its also over £300, so pricey for a viewfinder.

The lcdvf has a 2x magnification and comes in at £128.50 delivered but no diopter adjustment whereas the other two do.

The hoodloupe has no magnification and some reports are disappointing in that the lcd just isn't large enough.

So anyway, thinking I had decent eyes and didn't need diopter adjustment I went for the lcdvf, was delivered next day and I am VERY VERY impressed. Makes a huge difference to shooting video - stability, ease of focus - has really transformed my opinion on video with the DSLR.
