Cheap MOT's in the area?

Hey all,

It's MOT time for my cars, while I used someone in Guildford for both last year, I don't see the point for the BMW in taking it too a friendly place, as it will sail through. My estate on the otherhand...
I saw something about cheap place south of Crawley, but it is a fair distance away. I seem to recall when I have been out driving/riding of a garage with a sign outside on the A339 area advertising that they did a cheap test?

Just the Ticket in New Malden do MOTs for £29.95. I've used them for a number of years now.

Yup I have been there as well!!!

Very good the guys were very nice ..

I took my Noble there and it failed first time (had an unplugged lambda).

They did my retest for free! Didn't have to book an appointment - just told me to turn up anytime I wanted and they would do it immediately.

They were true to their word!

Definately recommended by me - tell them I recommended them when you go down!

HiQ Guildford do them for £35.. And I guess their not going to mess around with MOT's as its not worth it for them to lose the testing status.

There's an advert for Fox Garage (Farnborough?) ina freebie magazine that came round my house in Frimley. £35 I think it was.

I always use Lucas Garage in Datchet - been going there for 16 years. He is a small indi garage, iirc an MOT is £40 but he is a very fair tester. He will won't let a death trap through but will be lenient on 'common sense' failures such as blown bulbs etc.

Many of the franchise garages offer exceptionally cheap MOT's as they will fail the car on the smallest of advisories and then offer to 'fix' the MOT failures in their garage for £90 p/h plus parts (or whatever their exuberant labour rate is for that day!). My parents get caught out this way every year, take their car to the Ford garage who are doing £30 MOT's only for the car to fail on a brake bulb and get charged £60 to change it!

No such thing as a free lunch!
