Never hired a lens before, no idea what it costs, but off to Goodwood FOS with my EOS300D and a 18-55 lens, which I fear will be too small..

Anyone know what I would be looking at costwise to hire for the Friday... and also anywhere near Camberley that does it?

Never been to the FOS before, but I imagine Canon's 70-200 f2.8IS (minimum hire of 3 days, £51) would be an excellent choice, and possibly the 24-105 (£37 for 3 days) as a walkabout?

I used lensforhire recently to hire a 18-200 nikon as I didn't want to haul my whole bag around Disney all day. I also had nothing longer than 70mm and fancied a bit of range.

I can vouch for their service, quality and value for money.

I've taken my 70-200 to Goodwood a couple of times and ended up using my nifty 50 as the action tends to be very close.

I've now got a 24-70 2.8L which is the lens I'll take this year (although I'll probably still take the 70-200 and not use it!)

So I might actually get away with an 18-55 then?

18-55 will be fine for close ups of static vehicles. For track shots you will need something longer, the 70-200 mentioned above would be a wise choice

Depends where you are.

If you are in a grandstand and at the top then a 70-200 would be justified, but I always get near the track and a 50mm is just perfect.
