It doesn't matter how retarded you are, there is always somebody out there willing to outspacker you in one fell swoop. Congratulations.
^ pretty much this. I mean, tying it to his car? FFS.
Still, Darwin give lucky escape type awards don't they, this fellow is surely a contender.

'I feel lucky but I also feel foolish. I was looking for a thrill - call it a mid-life crisis if you want. In the end I dodged death and paralysis. I feel like I've got off lightly, by the grace of God.
Mid-life crisis, WTF.Two broken vertebrae, he did well and is very lucky.

i found the initial steps that planted the para-glider idea into his head.

beneath the story you will see this comment
"Ms Cuttle, I wasn't suggesting anyone should follow this fellow's lead, I was just voicing admiration for his confidence, optimism and sense of adventure. I don't think we need bandy words like "fool" about. Now I'm off to ebay to see if I can buy a small aircraft!"
all i can say is he had it coming lol

Now witness their attempts to fly from tree to tree. Notice that they do not so much fly as...plummet.
How so we change where the thumbsnap logo appears?
“He’s that most dangerous of creatures, a clever thumbsnap” Just doesn’t have the same effect as "clever sheep".

IIRC there is no specific regulation/licensing of paragliders. If you're a tool this is clearly a bad thing, but actually I think it's superb if not.
A mate used to go paramotoring. He'd got a series of lessons from a local flying (paramotoring) school and then started experimenting on his family's farm once he'd got to grips with it. He studied the required metreology and air law to keep himself out of trouble - you can collapse the canopy in turbulent air if you're not careful and I wouldn't like to fly into restrictor airspace on one - and he just got on with it.
It was all so charmingly informal that you can't help feeling it must have been a bit like flying a light aircraft in the '20s or '30s. He'd fly to the local pub on a nice summer's evening, have a swift half out in the sunshine and then fly back from the field behind the beer garden. It was a very rural area and air speeds are quite low so if he did get anything wrong he was never likely to hurt more than a passing cow (and himself). Likewise, he'd keep the rig in the back of his car pretty much permanently and had an agreement with the local farmers, so if he was driving back from work and it was a nice evening he could pull into a layby, hop over the fence and go for a spin from their fields. It's just like taking your 'fun car' out for a spin on a quiet evening, only a little bit cooler...
