After a little break from photography, I've finally got around to processing some of the shots I took about 3 years ago in Cuba, and thought I'd share a few of them here. Like most of the cars there, I'm a touch rusty, so any comments will be appreciated smile

Nice to have some stuff from your Ed. I like the last two a lot, the ones of the cars don't do a lot for me I'm afraid which is clearly the wrong thing to say since this is PistonHeads!

Did you enjoy cuba? It's quite high up our list of places to go.

Like them, amazing these things still run. Whats the story behind the chair shot - very intriguing

They run but a lot of them have Lada engines in them and most are total basket cases

I was working there in 96 - I'd avoid the out of town resorts and stay in Havana - as mentioned, some fab old buildings. Photo heaven.

We managed to get access to a couple of abandoned buildings, and the chair was just one of the things that was sitting there fading away, and begging to be photographed.

It was definitely an experience, and I really enjoyed my trip there. It's very rich in photographic subjects, even if you don't want to shoot old American cars.

A few more trickling through - I'd forgotten just how many shots I'd taken, and what a fantastic place it is for photography.

Well the Yanks have STILL got an embargo/blockade in force, and with the fall of the Soviet state Cuba lost it's only rich friend - so until the U.S. changes it's mind, things will stay pretty much the same there for the foreseeable. Castro built the 'out of town resorts' (which I mentioned earlier) to try and get some cash, but it's still very poor.

When I was there, there was no bog paper in the most expensive hotel in Havana! (Though I believe things are better on the bog paper front these days).

It really is a great place for photography... sadly, I was there before digital cameras were invented, so al I have are some fading prints.
