What a load of rubbish - trips abraod are nice allows to to concentrate on a car for a day or so - any journalist that is swayed by the trips however nice should be working for a certain TV motoring programme!!

And its always fun to see what they will come up with next....

Interesting read.

I once worked for a small Computer company. One day their product got a bad review, and they never advertised with that magazine again.

It's a natural reaction in any business. It's a question of balancing editorial against revenues. PH has a lot of editorial...

It's the same in IT -- and almost every product-based form of journalism I know (trust me on this, I'm a journalist ). You don't necessarily write a bad review when there's no good junket involved but because evryone else does junkets, if one vendor decided not to do so, it would look very odd and at least to bad press about how they were running out of money. If not slightly less favourable reviews...

I like how in the article they say "companies arent gonna loan a car to a writer that they know is gonna bad mouth their vehicle"

Funny, because they sure seem to with Lotus. I dont know about you, but in America, the Esprit in EVERY article, and I have ALOT of articles on them, they bash the car like its not even worthy of being made.

I suspect Lotus' advertising spend with said journals is negligible. QED.

The reciprocal will be the US car mags fawning over the Z06 (I'd have a Esprit V8 anyday over the Corvette) probably as a consequence of advertising dollars that GM spends with the mags...

Paul - Most likely, because whenever I read the Euro mags with test driving a Lotus, they always give praise where praise is do. As for the Z06 or Esprit? Shit, i'd rather have ANY Lotus over any Corvette. Lotus is my of my truest life loves!
