I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that my mountain bike got stolen. The insurance company have decided they will pay out which is a relief. Rather than give me a cash payout they have referred my case to a company called Wheelies Direct who will find suitable like-for-like replacements. I have sent very detailed information on the exact components which were on my bike and even the manufacturers current equivalent model so I am hoping to get something very similar back. Has anybody had any experience of this company and what they tend to replace with? They do seem to know about bikes but they don't seem to be the quickest responding people in the world.

Wheelies have two shops I believe, the internet sales warehouse, and the actual bike shop in Swansea. I bought my Rockhopper at the shop last year and have had plenty of dealings with them since. I am always happy to go back in there and the guys are always very helpful. Whether that ethos extends to the warehouse sales I am not sure? They stock a pretty wide range of bikes too so hopefully they will have something that suits!

Can anybody tell me whether it is possible to subsidise the value of a like-for-like replacement to get something better than you would otherwise?
