My girlfriend lives in the Sukhumvit Road area in Bangkok. She said two weeks ago that the number of tourists had tailed off dramatically. Now not surpringly there are few in number. Her business relies on foreign visitors. Given the levels of violence in Bangkok and elsewhere. I have an awful feeling that it may escalate into civil war. Do readers have similar views?

Thanks for that Mr V. It`s a desperate situation. I really don`t know what the solution is. Really sad to see in a wonderful city and country.

We;ve just started producing in Thailand- people from work were out there last week. Aside from the trouble in the capital, there isn't an issue outside of there at the moment.

I'm up in Isan in the north east, about 4 hours from Bangkok. I was meant to be starting work in the offices about Central World this week, then they burned the fker down. Lol. Fortunately my office wasn't damaged, but my work permit application has been put back a bit.

We have a curfew here, but signs of trouble out in the sticks. They did burn Kohn Kaen and Udon Thani town halls down the other night though. The trouble is now they have cleared the main site in Bangkok they are spread out across the country.

There are also stories of those who haven't come back. The official line was about 44 dead over the past week, but a guy that I spoke to in a small village here reckons he knows of 4 or 5 people who have not been seen or heard from, just from his area. When conspiracy theories like that take hold people start getting really angry and scared.

People who have been here a long time though seem to say this is business as usual in Thailand and something similar happens every 10 years or so. It might be a rocky ride for a few more weeks but things will calm down soon.
