Moving out of the family home and in with the girlfriend of 5 years this summer.

We have looked at a 2 bedroom flat which we like. Fairly small but in an ideal location.

We have a steady income and are ready to make the move.

The place we've seen was up for £525 p/m for a couple of months and has now dropped to £495 p/m. It has been empty for (at a guess) at least 4 months.

So, not having done this before, I'm not sure what is the done thing. The flat is up through a letting agency. If we decided to go for this one, do we shake on £495 p/m or is it OK to haggle.

Before people have a pop about the price, this is the North East! Things are cheaper. The flat is fairly small, 2 bedroom and furnished to a fairly decent standard.

Thanks,

I'd try and knock £50 off.

I'd offer £400.
