Satnav

Have asked this in the satnav forum but no response - has anyone tried the Halfords Navsure 420i with the flip out screen? Not withstanding the Chim dash top interference with the screen which can be resolved I wonder how good it is - 350 quid as against 900 for Kenwood is a big difference.

+1 - with all these things you get what you pay for!

TomTom/Garmin seem to have things sewn up because they are decent bits of kit. You could get a way better TomTom for the £300 for the Halfords stuff or a perfectly adequate TomTOm one for about half that as I have just done.

Thanks but its just that I'm fed up with the original pioneer radio / CD & want a change & thought to combine this, as others have done, with a satnav. I take your point on cost & I generally believe you get what you pay for. Just every so often though there's a bargain comes up so I thought I would enquire. Must admit I fancy the Kenwood but it hits the pocket and the insurers put a max of 500 cover on any none standard stereo kit.

Anymore thoughts from anyone most welcome

The only thing that worries me is if they come with Europe wide street level mapping. The reason being is because the first time i used my trusty Garmin on the continent it was fine on the autoroutes but as soon as we turned off it had no idea where we were !

Edit :

I've had ONE OF THESE offered to me by a friend but we are both unsure of the mapping. How easy do you think it'd be to obtain Europe wide street level maps?

I've got an X1 which was factory fit in the Tuscan. I'm pretty pleased with it.

Cheers for that, will have a look on there and juggle around some funds. Have you ever used yours on the continent?
