S1 Running Problems

Having just finished a partial body off then valve clearances/new rocker covers, new front brake calipers and discs, she now wont run. Firing up ok and sounds fine but then dies within 4 or 5 seconds, high revving will keep her going just about with a lot of spluttering then dies as soon as the revs drop. Also a lot of oily spluttering from exhaust. Any ideas?
