My E270D has intermittanly lost power for the past year or so, literally once every 2-3 months the power drops away and Ive had to stop and restart the car to get it out of limp home mode. Not great but liveable with until it happened again this time on a steep hill in the Dales and then i thought this could get dangerous. Mercedes in Reading who had investigated the issue and found nothing took the car in and reported a lot of fault codes but nothing they could isolate. Cutting to the chase they kept the car for a few days and reported back that Mercedes believed it to be a Turbo problem and this would need to be changed. They also sorted a sticking heater valve at the same time, which sounds trivial but is apparently in a lousy posiiton and takes a long time to change. The good news was that my extended warranty covered everything (must have been around £2k worth of parts and labour) and not a £ changed hands.

Without doubt that warranty was a good investment and has probably saved me 2X what I paid for it. Needless to say i extended it again earlier this month!

Anyway, the chaps at Mercedes Reading were excellent, didnt try to take money off me for doing "investigations" etc.. sorted out a loan car with no hassle etc..shame that the thing ate its own Turbo but at the end of the day they sorted it out with minimal pain for me so no blemish on the Mercedes copy book.

Assuming you don't sell warranty's - whose warranty is it?

Yep Huyton born and bred..but the Merc doesnt visit there too often! Moved away a long time ago. Its the Mercedes tier1 warranty, think I paid about £1500 for two years when I boguht the car 3 years ago effectively giving me a three year warranty with the one year that came with it. Cost just over £900 to renew this month.

Nope! Dont sell em but having had bad experiences its nice to have a good one.

Thanks. I have a C270CDi that's just about to come off Mercedes ServicePlus which has been great peace of mind, although the car has been faultless.

Sod's law that if I leave it, I'll get hit with a massive bill.

I lived in Pilch Lane until I was 4 but can barely remember it.
