Hi Cliff, I ran the SS on the road with Nitto 555R extreme drag radials for 10,000 miles! Superb tyres and also good on the track for the 94 vette with a best time of 13.51 @ 105.

Several of my customers run Yoko AO32R's, the hardest on tyres is probably Colin King I can give you his number if you would like a first hand oppinion. As you know I just bought a set for this years track day season so you can watch me wear mine out before Elvington!

have you looked at the Kumho's I know a lot of viper people ran these last season and were really impressed with them, the downside is they are so sticky they pick everything up and will shotblast your inner arches and sills unless you cover them up. They are reasonable priced too.

Hi Heather,10,000 miles!! thats amazing for a R/T tyre ,i know Richard uses Nittos on his ZR1 to good results, for a soft compound tyre 10,000miles is bl**dy good and its going to be interesting to see how they compare with Yokohamas on the track this year.

Viper i have been led to belive that Khumos were a low budget tyre and its only recently that ive learnt the truth ,i didnt realise some of the vipers were using them at Elvington in 03.

Nadine was the only running them in 03, others have since been snapping them up, Demon Tweeks seems the place to go in the UK. I know quite a few USA viper guys who swear by them as well. Think they are called V70 but would have to check, road legal track tyre, although I dont think they would last long if used only for road use

for Ecsta V70A 17" viper sizes around £700 for a set, 18" add a £100, I'd expect the vette sizes to be a lot cheaper, there not many cars that take a 335 rear

Thats why i think the Nittos have got to be a bit special R/T use AND 10,000 miles.
Nadine did exceptionaly well when you think that the walls of tyres for draging off the line give but held up well for her performance on the slalom.

The Nittos are the best compromise road/drag tyre there is IMO. BFG drag radials offer more grip, but are not safe for the street due to lack of tread.

The Nittos are DOT approved and as Camaro SS said you can get 10K miles out of them. And at only $185 each a real bargain. Only down side is that they are only 'V' rated (149 MPH), so I'm going to need a set of rear tyres for Elvington.

12.6/115, more to come

Cliff a 335 will fit a ZR1 rear. A lot of the US guys run the Z with 335's on the rear. The tyre will be slightly 'pinched' though so you might want to check on some of the US forums with the guys that run with the 335.
