That won't work. Buying new equipment is a convenient distraction. Accept that you can create great work with your existing equipment, unless you have reached it's technical limits. So either get out there with the camera and start shooting or give up altogether
There you go, I just saved you 2+ grand.

Nowhere near. Sun £600 - remember it is a 4+ year old camera.
My issue is that my old Dslr was bought when I was skint. I sold my medium format film gear to fund it at the time. The lenses I have are too slow. I like to shoot available light portraits. I have been doing all my snapping with a lumix point and shoot - which is fine, but offers very limited manual control. I will use a smaller bodied camera, with faster lenses much much more than a bulky slr with lenses I don't get on with.

I sold one two weeks ago. It was ok. Great lens but the small, although large for a p&s sensor gave quite a lot of noise and artifacts.
Is the DOF narrow enough at the top end for portraiture? I quite liek sharp eyes, and happy to have very narrow dof. What artifacts issues did you have with the CCD? Why didn't you send to Leica for new CCD? Or are you talking .jpg detail smearing in the highlights?
I have an Lumix LX2 camera, It is as far as I can tell identical to the Leica without the red dot of course and quite a bit cheaper. Excellent camera and worth every penny although Lumix now have a LX3 which is the replacement for my LX2 it has the better lens 1.4 i believe.
Before you buy the leica have a look at the LCD screen it will say GERMANY in big white letters at the bottom of it, then look at the bottom of the camera and see where it is made. In small letters it will say made in japan.......
Leica designed the lens's which are excellent but Panasonic do all the electronics which I guess is what they are good at so you have a camera which in my book is an LX3(panasonic) but Leica call it a digilux 2 and charge a few hundred pounds more.
Have a look at the LX3 Lumix it looks like a cracking camera and save youself a few hundred pounds but if you want the little red dot then go ahead and get the Leica I'm sure you wont be dissapointed which ever way you go.

The Panasonic equivalent is the LC1. COmpletely different camera to the LX series.
I think you have mistaken the digilux 2 for something else form teh leica range.
