I REALLY want the motorised dolly that he used! I can't find it for sale anywhere.
me too! - most people seem to make they're own setups. i remember watching a 'making of' after planet earth, or one of the other bbc natural history programmes, and they had a nikon d200, attached to a variety of bicycle wheels and pulleys and ropes- very heath robinson, but it did the trick.I did find a company that made timelapse controllers a while ago, but i think it was in america. It was essentially a turntable, would turn an increment, sent signal to camera, rotate an increminent, etc, but also did some maths so it would ramp up and ramp down at the beginning and ends of the shots- either ramping the intervals or the increments of the turntale. I figured it would be quite easy to rig the turntable to pull along a dolly..... and then perhaps have another turntable controller on the dolly itself, so you get both a dolly and pan camera move
I wish i was good at programming, im sure it can't be too tricky to get the right motors, hook it all up to computer and make a program to control both them and the camera

they say the turntable is strong enough to turn with a person standing on it- so should be strong enough to pull along a dolly. just need a really nicely machined set of track, on a very slight incline to keep the rope taught, some rope or fishermans line- something with no stretch, and coil it round the turntable so it gradually pulls along the dolly.
want to go halves on one?

The guy says in the thread that he used a Milapses, and that it would be out soon.. meanwhile you can buy an up down / right left one here: http://shop.telescope-warehouse.com/product.sc?pro...
I like the video - but did think - which way is it going to move in this one as they moved to the next sequence.

ah, found the link: https://bmumford.securewebsites.com/photo/rotary/i...
I was previously tempted to get their Intervalometer to messing about with water drops, balloon bursts etc..I left Dusseldorf today for Portland via Chicago and due to the ash cloud currently up in the air we had to go North up over Norway and then swing West cutting across the north end of Iceland, close enough to see the plume breaking through the white clouds off on the horizon...why oh why didn't I pack my camera in my laptop bag!!!
