Hunting when on tick over??????

Hi All,

New TVR owner here again!

Tyres last time but engine this time.

She's through the MOT by the skin of her teeth! But having driven her over there she started to "hunt" or not idle consistantly. Wondered if it was the mas air flow sensors? Has anyone else had this? I tapped the MAF sensors and she ran better for a bit. She drives ok, however she nearly stalls occasionaly pulling up to a junction on idle. Also at low revs in a higher gear when trying to just cruse, (ege in a 30 or 40mph zone) you can feel her "judering"

Could be the ISCV, throttle pot or a few other things but you need to tell us more...

has the ECU been disconnected recently? has anything else been done to your motor recently ? when you say she passed by the skin of her teeth - was emissions an issue ? if so who did the timing and how did they do it ?

I have custody of a "Tester" (was Graham's) and that could diagnose your problems if they persist... BeasleyNeil has it on loan at the minute but I'm sure he could send it on to you if required.

It might just be something as simple as a vacumn leak on the inlet side as that will cause the symptoms you are describing, best thing is start her up and get a bit of tubing and put one end in your ear and the other end you waft over all the hoses etc and then if there is a leak you will hear it loudly. I always think eliminate the easy stuff first, good luck

I had this problem last year.

A clean of the sensors (just inside the AFM) with a cotton bud + some carb cleaner solved it.

May also be worth checking the timing - should be around the 8 degrees marker (2.9V6 engine) as per the bible.

Suggest checking injector wiring loom for rust/poor connections.
This sounds like the same problem i had two years ago.
