Must be weird going back to being a normal MP. I think most people thought he would just leave politics totally.

Can you just imagine in 5 years time when Milliband has led the Labour party to victory and he brings back Brown as his Chancellor, LOL.

I thought he was stepping away from politics to do charidee work mate.

I know I am just being mean (and how I hope I am right) BUT I reckon no fecker would employ him as a consultant or Non Exec Director etc.. so he has no choice but to stay as an MP...

I can't see any Labour party having him as the Cabinet or Shadow Cabinet. He wouldn't like to be someones bh again, after thinking he was top man.

I think he will be a good local MP, one thing can't take away from him is his passion for his constituents.

No matter what peoples views are of the man and him running the country, a local MP is a very different kettle of fish. He was one of the few MPs who started off with the right ideas, I for one hope he continues with that.

He seems to be much happier now, going around making jokes and watching football games.

I bet in some ways it must be a huge relief to him and his family now that it's all over. He's probably a good MP to have if he sticks to it.

That's what he said. Just another lie to add to all the others.

Maybe, except the ones he thinks are awful bigotted people. But they will never know if he thinks that will they?

So this isn't anything to do with him selling The Bigot Issue outside Budgens?

I bet most MPs represent 100s of people they don't like or disagree with.

Maybe if they dont want his reputation ruining their reputation but he must be privvy to all sorts of valuable information that would see him be able to demand huge fees if he wanted to.

Absolutely. I suspect he'll be great. Even better now that he can devote all his time to it.

Reading things like this it makes it easier for me to understand how the socialists stayed in power for so long.
He has been shown, on numerous occasions, to be an unprincipled liar with no respect for the electorate & yet you still think he'll make a good MP.

If you have the time I'd be interested to hear why you hold this view.

So he's still going to stand as an MP in his constituency. So what?

We live in a democracy. If his constituents don't want him they can vote him out at the next election. Fact is he held his seat and so has every right to remain on the back benches.

He stated quite categorically that he was standing down from politics & would instead devote his time & energy to charity.
Obviously he has this right but it shows his farcical performance on TV the other day was just that, a performance aimed at wringing sympathy from the blinkered & misguided people who have swallowed whole the blatant nonsense that he is a man of principle.
More lies to add to his tally.

Oh yes - he's a politician alright - and you had to work out what he'd said after every speech: it was never quite what it appeared to be on the surface but I don't think you can doubt his dedication to Scotland and his own small piece of it.

I never want him back in power. And in no way do I agree with Labour's policies - I am closer to the Tories on most issues. I can see, however, how his constituents might like being represented by him.

Or perhaps in the cold light of day and after the dust settled he reassessed the situation. Have you ever changed your mind? Does that make you a liar?

Sometimes in very stressful or emotive moments we make snap decisions and decide we are going to do something, however after sleeping on it things frequently feel different.

It's possible of course but his record paints a different picture.

I think you could be one of those people to whom I refer.
